Big Boy
Wyatt has decided that he is too big for his high chair so he now eats dinner at the table in his booster seat. He still tends to use his spoon as a sling shot rather than an eating utensil but he's starting to get the idea. If we can just keep 75% of the food on the plate or in his mouth I consider the evening a success. Luckily Jack is very handy for quick cleanups!

This morning Michael got up with Wyatt at his usual crack of dawn waking and the two of them ran some errands so I could sleep in. They went to Krispy Kreme for breakfast and also got my van washed and vacuumed out. By the time they got home Wyatt was out cold in his car seat and sacked out for another hour for his afternoon nap. It was a very productive Sunday and Wyatt even helped me sort some laundry.
Whew! Marathons are hard work...
You think running a marathon is hard, try chasing someone around town during one! We drove up to Louisville on Friday night and got up early Saturday morning to watch Uncle Jay run in the Derby Festival Marathon. It was extremely hot with temperatures in the 80's and Uncle Jay did a terrific job finishing 26.2 miles in under 5 hours. We were able to catch him at 6 different spots along the route and cheered him on as he and his friend Jon ran by.
At the 10 mile mark...he's actually smiling
Taking a break in the shade
Sprinting to the finish line
On Friday night we went downtown for the Balloon Glow at the Fairgrounds. Wyatt seemed to like the big balloons and it was a nice evening to be outside. The traffic getting out of the parking lot was quite a mess though.Monday, April 20, 2009
Man on the Move
Wyatt was quite the busy little fella this weekend. On Friday night Aunt Hope came over to play with him while Mommy and Daddy went out to dinner. On Saturday morning Wyatt ran errands with Daddy while Mommy got her hair done and then we all met back at the house only to hop in separate cars and take off again. Michael went to visit Uncle Javi in Cincinnati while Wyatt and I went to Louisville to have a play date with Ella.
Wyatt and Ella are really starting to interact with each other, even if it is only to squabble over who was playing with a toy first. They sat at a table together and colored outside, went for a wagon ride around the block and then played in the house for a bit while TJ cooked us dinner! It was so beautiful on Saturday we just had to take advantage of the nice weather and ate our burgers outside on the deck.

On Sunday morning we got up early to drive to Owensboro for the day. Mimi and Aunt Rachel rode along with us to Memaw and Papaw's house. Memaw cooked a huge yummy lunch for us and we stuffed ourselves full while Wyatt napped. Soon after lunch, my Aunt Julie brought cousins Bradyn and Kailey over to visit and then Brent and Breanna and Hayden came by too. Wyatt has loved Bradyn from the moment they met and I think the feeling is mutual! All of the kids played together and entertained all of the adults.

Happy Easter
We celebrated Easter yesterday at our house with Mimi, Pop, Aunt Rachel, Uncle Jay and Uncle Matt. We ate lots of food and watched Wyatt play with the toys that the Easter Bunny brought him. He continued his new favorite activity...dumping the plastic eggs from the bucket and then putting them back, then dumping them out again. It was even sunny and somewhat warm enough to play outside.

Egg Hunting
This morning Wyatt and I packed up for a day trip to Shelbyville. Some co-workers of Rachel's had an easter egg hunt this morning at their house and we were invited. There were lots and lots of kids and Wyatt had a blast. He played in the back yard until it was time to hunt eggs and as soon as they said "go" he quickly caught on and filled his bucket.

After the egg hunt we hung out with Rachel and Jay for a little bit before we headed back toward home. We made a couple of pit stops in Georgetown and then spent the rest of the day repeating the egg hunt and subsequent dumping of the bucket over and over...

One of the pit stops in Georgetown was to pick up an Easter present from Abuelita. Wyatt will have lots of fun with the bubbles and fuzzy froggie. I have a feeling we'll be watching Tigger and Pooh Musical several times too!

New video
Just in case you didn't see it... there is a new video on the top right side of this page. It's Wyatt playing with his new Elmo Live. I'm working on getting a video of him doing the chicken dance...coming soon, I promise!

sunny day, sweeping the clouds away...
We drove out to Georgetown this afternoon for Jayca's birthday party. It was absolutely gorgeous out today and we had lots of fun playing in Jayca's back yard. The bubble machine was a big hit with the little kids. After the party we went to visit Aunt Hope for a little bit and then headed home to put one tired little boy to bed.

Chicken Dance
So apparently they do the chicken dance at school and it cracks Wyatt up! We noticed the last day or two that he would flap his arms like a chicken at random times. After work tonight we went to Zaxby's for dinner (how appropriate considering the chicken theme of this evening's blog) and as Wyatt started flapping, Michael looked at me and asked "is he doing the chicken dance?" So I started singing..."na na na na na na na, na na na na na na na, na- na- na- na, na- na- na- na...etc, you know how it goes! And Wyatt's face lit up and he started flapping away and clapping his hands right on the beat. Just wait until I teach him to wiggle his little tushie! As soon as we got home Michael pulled up Itunes and started playing the song and we all did a little chicken dancing. Anybody got a wedding reception coming up, cause we're ready to chicken dance!!!!!
