15 month checkup

We had Wyatt's regularly scheduled 15 month checkup today and he got 3 shots. There was a new PA there today, actually the first male we have seen since Wyatt's doctor at the hospital where he was born. And coincidentally this new PA and I went to college together. We didn't know each other in college but Transy is such a small world, faces and names are often familiar even if you don't run in the same circles. The older Wyatt gets, the more aware he is of what is coming next when he walks down that hallway at the peds office. He cooperated for the most part and let the doctor check him out, he had lots of fun with two tongue depressers and a spinning stool. They had us in and out of there pretty quickly and Wyatt was cranky and clingy the rest of the night but Daddy gave him a bath and put him to bed early!

Wyatt weighed 24 lbs, 12oz and his height was 31.5", 50th percentile for both height and weight.

Little Romo

Wyatt wore his Cowboys/Tony Romo jersey (that Opa bought him) to school today. I thought I'd take some pictures of him on his Spiderman couch enjoying a snack.

Weekend Getaway

We had a mini vacation this weekend, a trip to Cincinnati with Mimi and Pop. On Friday afternoon we headed north to check in to a hotel on the river and get ready for the Playhouse Disney Live show at US Bank Arena. Aunt Hope also drove up to meet us for the show, and we all sat in a row together with Steve, Jessica and Jayca and Jessica's parents as well.

On Saturday morning we got up and had breakfast before heading over to the Newport Aquarium. Aunt Rachel drove up to hang out with us for the day. Wyatt surprised us at breakfast when he drank his milk right out of the curly straw that came with his drink. We didn't know he knew how to use a straw but he somehow mastered it within a few tries. The aquarium was really cool and Wyatt enjoyed the second half of it since he slept through the first half. One of the best parts was the dive show where the audience was able to talk to one of the divers in the shark tank. She told us about the fish and sharks and turtles in the tank with her.Fish make me sleepyWyatt woke up just in time for the "Frog Bog" since we all know that Wyatt loves Froggies!

After the Aquarium we met up with Javi and Carol for lunch and then a trip to a magical wondrous place... IKEA!!! If you've never been there, you have to go, it's an experience! After all of that walking we called it quits for the day and headed back to the hotel. Wyatt had fun splashing in the hotel pool for a bit and then we retired to the room for an evening of NCAA basketball. On Sunday morning we came back home just in time for Wyatt to take a nice long afternoon nap. After his nap it was so beautiful that we played outside and went for a wagon ride around the neighborhood.

Big Boy Haircut

Saturday was Wyatt's first real big boy haircut...other than the snips that mommy and daddy did to prevent a full blown mullet. We made an appointment for him at a place that specializes in kids cuts. Aunt Hope came with us and took pictures of the experience. You can pick which seat they sit on so we selected a shiny red fire truck for Wyatt. And they also have televisions at each station so they can pick a movie to watch as well. Wyatt sort of watched Elmo in Grouchland for the few minutes that he was sitting there. The lady that cut his hair was good, she was quick and precise. Wyatt didn't mind the haircut at all until she got the clippers out. Then he wanted to get the heck out of there. He looks so handsome and grown up with his big boy haircut!

Sunshine makes me happy...and tired

We had a gorgeous day today so as soon as Wyatt and I got home we went for a wagon ride around the neighborhood. We played in the back yard and Wyatt chased the bubbles. Michael went and refilled the propane tank for our gas grill and cooked some chicken breasts and brats for dinner. The neighbor girls and their dad were outside so they came over to visit for a bit. They offered to let us borrow their toddler sized Little Tikes slide and swing until their soon to be born little boy is ready to use it. Wyatt climbed up one side and slid down the other over and over. He liked the swing too, but didn't like being strapped in to it. I'm quite sure we'll get plenty of good use out of it this summer. Wyatt screamed and threw a temper tantrum every time I tried to bring him in to eat dinner. Finally I asked him if he wanted to take a bath and he said "unh!" which I took to mean yes. He played in the tub for a bit and then we put pjs on and then he ate dinner. I sat him down in the living room to play and read books when I realized it was already 7:15pm. He could barely keep his eyes open so I took him up to his room and he went right to sleep with no fuss at all. Unfortunately I think our warm weather will not last. But hopefully we'll be back to playing outside on a regular basis very soon!

Warming Up

We had a beautiful Saturday with temperatures in the mid 70's and since Wyatt and I had planned to visit Louisville for the weekend, we ended up making a trip to the zoo. Aunt Rachel bought us a family pass for Christmas so we decided to try it out. Apparently most of Louisville had the same idea because the parking lots were packed, but it didn't feel that crowded once we were inside. We brought Wyatt's wagon and took turns pulling him up and down the hills and all around the zoo. It was just a fantastic day to be outside and we all had a great time.
Later that evening, Aunt Mary Kaye and Nina came over to visit. Wyatt loves to play with Nina and he taught her his famous "pat, pat, pat...blast off"This afternoon we visited with Laura and TJ and Ella. Wyatt and Ella had fun running up and down the hallway and reading books. They played pretty well together and shared lots of hugs.

Feeling better

We had a great weekend and a fun visit with Javi and Carol. We did some shopping and ate dinner at BD's Mongolian Grill on Saturday night. Wyatt is feeling better and the antibiotics are starting to kick in. Here are some recent artwork projects from school...
