Ice and Snow

This week has been quite an adventure! Tuesday was Michael's birthday and we woke up to a thick coating of ice on everything. Wyatt's daycare was delayed by 3 hours but I still had to get to work on time so Michael waited for the daycare to open and then headed out to work himself. We all ended up leaving work early that day because there was more snow and ice headed our way and the roads were beginning to get dangerous. Most of the surrounding areas got a few inches of snow while we just got ice and more ice in Nicholasville. Wednesday morning we woke up to a mess on the roads but again, I had to get to work on time while Michael's office was closed and Wyatt's daycare was closed. I only ended up working half a day because another round of heavy snow blew through on Wednesday morning and quickly dumped another two inches on the roads. We never lost power, but we did lose cable and internet for most of the day Wednesday...but I can sure deal with that as long as we have power and heat! We still have quite a bit of ice and some snow on the ground but we all went to work and school as usual on Thursday and Friday. Wyatt still hasn't really been able to play in the snow since it is really more ice than anything in our backyard. It's not good snowball material and if he laid down to make a snow angel he might puncture a lung on the reverse icicles that have formed on the grass. We are headed north to Ohio tomorrow to visit Javi and Carol and to help Aunt Hope move to Georgetown so I'm sure we'll see quite a bit more snow up there. It's supposed to be sunny tomorrow which should melt alot of the ice but now I hear that we are in for 6-10 inches of snow on Monday! I'll believe it when I see it! Hope everyone out there is safe and warm!

Here are two new art projects that Wyatt brought home this week.

Weekend Festivities

Saturday evening we celebrated our friend Steve's surprise 30th birthday in Georgetown. It was at Golden Corral and Wyatt ate like a madman! Buffets are a great source of experimental foods because we can see what he'll eat without having to actually buy and cook it ourselves only to have him spit it out or throw it across the room. He pretty much stuck to the foods we already knew he liked, but he must have a hollow leg because I don't know where he put all that food!

On Sunday we met up with my family to celebrate the boys' birthdays. My brother in law, my brother and Michael's birthdays are all within a week of each other. We met in Shelbyville and had dinner at Claudia Sanders Dinnerhouse...yet another buffet. Wyatt wasn't quite as interested in the food as he was walking the halls of the restaurant but he still ate very well. He was worn out from the busy weekend and was snoozing most of the way home.

Tonight we are bracing for a "Snow 1 Emergency" as the news station puts it. I'm hoping we get enough snow so that it will be worth bundling Wyatt up in the ski bibs that Mimi bought him and maybe we'll have some pictures to post of his first snow man and snow angel!

I know, I know...

I haven't updated the blog in quite awhile, but I've been busy!
Wyatt hasn't been feeling great this week and turns out it was a reaction to his chicken pox vaccine that he had about two weeks ago. He's had a fever and just been cranky in general. On top of that he is breaking in a molar on the top right hand side of his mouth and that has to hurt too! He did spend most of the day in the 1 year old room today and we have yet another piece of artwork to share. The coloring is kind of light so you might not be able to appreciate the full scope of his talent.
Last weekend, before Wyatt started feeling puny, we visited with our friends at Kathleen's house. Wyatt and Ella had not seen each other for awhile so it was fun to get them together again. They got along pretty well and the evening ended with hugs and kisses (TJ, your daughter initiated this time). Here are a few more fun pics from that day!Wyatt and Ella attacking HunterElla giving Wyatt a pat on the back

Wagon Riding

Well it was too cold to ride outside, but since Mimi and Pop finally got Wyatt's wagon put together, we couldn't help but test it out in the living room! We strapped him in and Froggie and Mickey even got to take a spin as well. And would someone please tell me why this kid is so full of energy??? Haha! I swear it's not open!! This picture just cracks me up so I thought I would share!

Kids Place

This morning we met Steve, Jess and Jayca at Kids Place in Lexington. Most of the stuff was for older kids but they still had fun climbing around and watching the bigger kids play too. We weren't sure if parents were allowed to join in too, but they told us "if you can fit, you can get in", so we did!
Wyatt was so tired after two solid hours of playing that he feel asleep as soon as we put him in the car and ended up taking a good three hour nap!
Mimi came to visit with Wyatt and help me finally get my Christmas tree taken down and caught up on all the housework I have been putting off during the holidays.

Outback...ummm takeout

One year ago on January 9th, Wyatt left the hospital for the first time and went straight to Outback Steakhouse at 13 days old. Michael and I decided to make dinner at Outback a family tradition on January 9th every year. Unfortunately Wyatt was tired after a long day of playing at daycare and was not in the mood to sit still in a restaurant. We sat at the table for a bit before we decided just to order our food to go. Wyatt fell asleep as soon as I put him in his car seat and luckily stayed asleep long enough for me to eat my steak! We'll try again next year and maybe Wyatt will get his own steak next January 9th!

Transition Time

Wyatt is in the process of transitioning out of the infant room and into the toddler room. His teachers have been taking him and a few other 1 year olds over to the next room for a few hours each day. He will be taking a nap on a mat (good luck to them with that) and eating at a table instead of a highchair.

Yesterday was his first day over there and he did his first art project. I'm going to start an art gallery on the blog and try to scan or take picture of what I can as he brings home more and more of these projects.

I took some other random pictures of him today because he looked so cute in his Spiderman t-shirt that Abuelita brought him.

Superman

We ran out to do some grocery shopping this afternoon and Michael saw these pajamas and just had to have them for Wyatt. Too bad they don't make them in Daddy sizes!
