We had the dreaded 2 month shot appointment today. Wyatt weighed 11lbs, 7oz which is 50th percentile and he was 24.25" long which is 90th percentile. Sounds like we have a long lean machine on our hands! He took all four shots like a man---cried like a baby! Haha! He really did very well, he first looked at me like "What the hell was that??!?!" and then once I got him dressed and back into the carseat and binkie in mouth he was fine and dandy. By the time we got to the house (3 minute drive) he was sound asleep.
I really really love the pediatrician and she sat and talked to me for a good 45 minutes and gave me lots of great advice and what to expect in the coming months. She and the PA both came in and loved on him and he flirted back big time.
Yesterday we went to Sams Club to get some formula to hold him over for a few weeks and then we stopped by my office to show Wyatt off so he show them just how big he's gotten. Then we came home to visitors. Julie and Katie came over to see Wyatt and Katie loved holding Wyatt and kept telling us that "he wants me". She's going to be a great baby-sitter someday!
Today is my last weekday home with Wyatt for awhile. I know this is going to be harder on me than him. My mom is coming to watch him for two weeks and then Michael's parents will be here the third week in March so that will help ease me back into work. Stay tuned!

Getting Exercise
Wyatt has this really cool exersaucer that has a playmat to lay on the floor before he's big enough to sit in it. He has been going to town with this thing today so I took some pictures. The outfit he is wearing in these pictures is the same one he wore for his hospital pictures. Well not the exact one because the one in the pictures belonged to the hospital. We found the same outfit at Marshalls when we got home and had to have it.

The countdown is on...
This is my last week at home :(
I can't believe I have to go back to work already, but I knew this time would eventually come. I've been lucky today because Wyatt has been so incredibly cooperative that I have moved most of the furniture back into place (after having the floors put down) and I think I've done 4 loads of laundry already today.
Today I put Wyatt in the outfit I bought to bring him home in. I bought a 0-3 month outfit from the Gap that I loved but it was so huge on him when we left the hospital. I put it on him this morning and it fits great. I looked everywhere for a picture of him wearing it when we left Ashland, but I can't find one! So here he is wearing it today anyway...
Poor baby has eye gunk today. The doctor warned me that once he starts making tears, his tear ducts can get easily clogged and this would happen. I called the doctor's office just to make sure I remembered what she told me to do. We just have to keep an eye on it and if it doesn't get better in the next few days, then we'll worry about it.

Visiting Family
Wyatt and I went through Louisville on Friday afternoon to pick up Mimi on our way to Owensboro. We were greeted by most of my mom's family at my grandparents' house. Wyatt got to meet all of them and I have some pictures of him with some of them.
He had such a busy day and he slept like a rock all the way home. Then Mimi and Pop and Aunt Rachel got to spoil him themselves when we got back home. Even though he slept through the night, Wyatt even took a quick nap with Pop this morning.

Back Online
Well our downstairs area is still a little out of sorts, but we have new wood laminate floors in the living room and office area and they look fantastic! I took some pictures, but I will have to upload those later because Michael just now got the computer and wifi back up at 10pm. We have terrible icing outside but it is supposed to melt away by morning. Wyatt and I are going to try to get to Owensboro tomorrow if the weather allows. I'm off to bed now because the little man is screaming...this is not a good sign for the night to come.

Sleepy Baby = Happy Mommy
Last night, Mr. Wyatt Maxwell went to bed at 10pm and slept until 6:15am!!! We did a trial run of timing for when I go back to work since I had a doctor's appointment at 9:15 this morning. We're going to have to tweek the system a little bit, but it was a good first practice. I couldn't believe he made it completely through the night, I hope this is a trend that will stick. He took another nap while we were at the doctor's office and when he woke up he was in a really good mood.

Plaid Pals
Did I ever mention that I love plaid? I put that adorable little outfit on Wyatt yesterday and then Daddy surprised me by putting one of his plaid shirts on to match. I had to take pictures of that! We took Wyatt to church for the first time Saturday night and then we went to Applebees afterwards. He slept all the way through Mass. We sat in the crying room just in case, but he slept solid despite all the other kids running around and playing.

Running errands
We got up early this morning for our appointment with the social workers for their monthly visit. We were already up and moving so we ran out to turn in the daycare application and deposit, met Jessica for lunch and then hit the grocery. I know I am slacking on the pictures, but I will take some tomorrow for sure!
Wyatt is sleeping longer stretches of time now, almost 6 hours at a time. One night last week he went almost 7 hours and that really freaked us out! He's 7 weeks old now- man how times flies! Only 2 more weeks at home before I have to go back to work. I need to start practicing my morning routine to make sure I can get ready and get Wyatt to daycare and me to work in time. That's going to be a challenge!

Pajama Thursday
Happy Valentines Day!!! My two Valentines made me breakfast in bed this morning which was delicious! We stayed home all day in our pjs and didn't do much. We started moving stuff out of the living room to prepare for the laminate floors we are getting next week. Wyatt is asleep in my arms right now and we are watching a new episode of LOST. I think this may be my best Valentines Day yet!

Back home
We made it back home this morning after we decided to spend another night in Louisville. Wyatt had an appointment with an orthopedist at UK Hospital. The resident and doctor were both very nice and they suggested we exercise Wyatt's wrist and ankle, but they don't expect any long term damage. There may be some scar tissue that affects the development of the tendons but if we keep him flexible there really should be no long term problems.
The rocker/glider we ordered for Wyatt's room finally came in yesterday. We went by to pick that up after his appointment and Michael put it together already. It matches the room better than I had imagined and it is very comfy! I also bought the letters to hang his name in the room as well. I hope we can get everything hung tomorrow so I can take a picture of his room.

Wyatt and Ella
Oh how we tortured these poor babies today. Since we didn't get to go to Owensboro today because we were too worried about the roads, we went over to the Clayton's house to visit with Laura and Ella. Martha and Katie came over too and we spent hours fawning over the babies. We took tons of pictures of course.

Let it snow
Well here we are in Louisville on Monday night and there is snow everywhere! Wyatt and I took mom downtown to her doctor appointment and then went to Target to pick up some baby supplies for Pop and Mimi's house.

Shop til you drop
We've had quite a busy weekend. On Friday I got my haircut and Wyatt slept through the whole afternoon. I had a few errands to run and then we picked out Aunt Hope's birthday present. On Saturday we met Steve, Jess and Jayca for lunch and then we hit the mall. We found lots of good bargains and I managed to buy Wyatt even more clothes, even though he already has a complete wardrobe for the first year of his life. On Sunday we had a lazy day and had a surprise visit from Aunt Hope. We plan to head to Louisville to visit Mimi and Pop for our first overnight trip tomorrow. I can't even imagine what I'll need to pack, this should be interesting.

point that thing somewhere else
Ok so I'm torturing my son by taking dozens of pictures everyday, so sue me! He's quite handsome and I can't control myself. Here's are some adorable pics in his Old Navy outfit from Wanda and Chris. And yes Jessica he is wearing shoes!
I also put Wyatt in the sling today for the first time (thanks Javi and Carol). He just wouldn't fall asleep in his bouncy or swing today, wants to be attached to mommy. So I rolled him up in the sling and he's sound asleep and I have two hands free!

Thar she blows...
Ok so where is the baby book entry for first time crammed in the downstairs powder room in the middle of the night with mommy, a dog and two cats, with sirens blaring and daddy sticking his head out the door saying it's not that bad?
Legend has it that I once too was crammed into a closet as a small child along with my cousin Breanna during a scary tornado warning. My sister was a day or so old and she and my mom were still in the hospital. I don't really recall that episode and the only vague memory I have is of my dad carrying me in one arm and Breanna in the other through a torrential downpour in the hospital parking lot. Apparently he took us to my Aunt Julie's house where she proceeded to stash us in a coat closet.
Growing up in the "tornado alley" of Western Kentucky, I have experienced many a warning in my lifetime. And you can bet your sweet bippy I quickly lodged myself in the basement hugging my battery powered radio. Michael was alternately unaffected by his first few months of life spent in the real tornado alley in Kansas. Although he did go on to spend the majority of his childhood in a tropical paradise, yet far enough inland to be safe from the brunt of hurricane season.
Still, last night was pretty comical in hindsight. Michael grabbed Wyatt (who slept soundly through the whole ordeal) while I tried to coax the animals downstairs and into the powder room with treats. I nearly had two of the three in when Jack (our 50 pound dog) turned around and ran upstairs and planted himself back in our bed. I could not get him to budge so I picked him up and carried him down and into the bathroom. I took Wyatt from Michael and sat on the toliet, trying to figure out why I couldn't get Bill Meck to come on the radio station I was listening to and waiting for the roof to blow off. (By the way, I have since learned that Bill Meck is now on Z103 during storms - thanks Julie!) I never did get Michael or one of the cats in there with us, that would have been a tight squeeze. The storm blew over very quickly and we were back in bed within 30 minutes with Wyatt still sawing logs.
I have to say these storms are quite a different experience when there is a little one involved. I can't imagine having to cram us all into that room if we were in real danger. In the end, I was proved to be the over-reacting control freak that we all know I can be. But since Wyatt was unconscious during the entire process I have no doubt he will remain untraumatized and I will have a chance to play it more calm and collected next time.
Here are some pictures of our weary storm survivor that I took today. You can see the horror on his face!!!

Spoke too soon
As I mentioned yesterday, for the most part Wyatt sleeps really well. Last night however was not great. Mommy is worn out today! We ran out for a few errands this afternoon but where he would normally sleep soundly while running errands, I was not so lucky today. We didn't stay out long so it wasn't a big deal. But wouldn't you know it, as soon as daddy got home he sacked out hard in his swing and has been asleep ever since. Oh well, I'll just hope that tonight goes a little smoother. But we are supposed to have a lot of severe storms tonight so mommy might not sleep soundly either way.
Here are some funny face pictures taken tonight.

Growing Boy!
We had another appointment with the ped this morning and Wyatt now weighs 9lbs, 11oz and measures 22" long. He's doing great and we go back for shots (yuck) in 3 weeks. This will be just in time for him to have what is required for daycare and before mommy has to go back to work (double yuck)- no offense to my co-workers of course!
I still can't believe how quickly he is growing. He is starting to get little fat rolls on his arms and legs. His neck is getting stronger and he holds his head up a little longer each time. He will stand up in my lap and loves blanket time after he eats. He is quickly outgrowing all of his newborn clothes and I'm trying to get them all on him one more time before he gets too long to fit in them.
Mommy and Daddy are getting much longer stretches of sleep and sometimes Wyatt even sleeps longer than we expect him to. We will be soon need to begin working on moving him over to the crib in his room and developing a routine that will work for us when I have to get back to work and can't nap during the day.

Weekend Update
Friday night we went out to dinner with Aunt Hope and Brad. We met them at Ramsey's out in Nicholasville and ended up seeing my cousin Natalie who works there. After dinner, Hope and Brad came back to our house and Wyatt and Aunt Hope took a nap together.
Saturday morning we went to Sams Club to get some football finger foods for the game on Sunday. And we even got some happy baby smiles for MOMMY!
Sunday is laundry day and cleaning up around the house. We are going to watch the game with chicken wings and chips with spinach dip and queso. Yum! Wyatt took his first nap in his big boy crib today. I laid him down in his room while I was putting some stuff away and I turned around and he was snoozing. It didn't last too long because by the time I had the monitor set up and got back downstairs, he was already over the nap thing.
