We slept in a little bit this morning and then got all dressed up to sit in court for about 5 whole minutes. The whole thing was spectacularly uneventful, but I am grateful to be finished nonetheless. My sister and my mom were there in the cheering section. They took a few pictures and Rachel videotaped the hearing as well since we didn't know the court reporter would give us a recorded copy of the hearing as well. The judge was sick so we didn't take a picture with him, but we did get a few snapshots in the courtroom.

We left the courthouse we headed back to the house for a quick change and then over to my office to let my co-workers see how quickly Wyatt is growing. He flirted with the ladies and showed them his new walking abilities before we went to Cheddars for lunch. My fabulous friends at work got us an engraved silver and blue baby shoe Christmas ornament and a cookie cake. After lunch I had to get back to work, so since Michael had the rest of the day off, he took Wyatt to daycare and ran some errands to get us ready for Thanksgiving tomorrow.
We are so happy to have this part of our journey complete, but it seems strange that we were waiting on what happened today to cap off the last 3 years. It was anti-climatic at best, but then again I didn't need a piece of paper to tell me that he is mine. And I would have liked to see someone "try" to take him away from us anyway~HA! Fortunately I have a whole new pile of paperwork to deal with just in case I thought I would miss it after all these years. We now can apply for his new birth certificate and a social security number and put him on our insurance and flex spending account, open a bank account...all those things that most people take for granted.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL OF OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY!!!
