Mmmmm is for Mutton!

We had quite a busy few days this weekend. On Friday night we went to O'Charleys to celebrate Deforest's 8th birthday and Wyatt partied on until nearly 9pm. He did fall asleep hard and fast as soon as his butt hit the carseat though.

On Saturday we got up early and perused some garage sales in Lexington and found a couple of great bargains before we headed to Panera for breakfast. We came back home just in time for Wyatt's afternoon nap and then when he woke up we headed to Shelbyville for a slumber party with Aunt Rachel. Uncle Jay went camping so we went to keep her and the doggies company overnight. Rachel read about a church picnic in Louisville with "authentic Owensboro bbq" so we just had to check it out. Turns out that St. Pius X cooking team comes up every year to this church in Louisville to donate their time and services to help raise money for the Pitt Academy which is a Catholic school for children with special needs. This was the 25th year of the picnic and it is always held on the 3rd Sunday in May which is the weekend after the big bbq festival in Owensboro. Now we know if we don't make it to Owensboro for the bbq festival we can make sure to get some chicken and mutton close by in Louisville. And by the way, Wyatt had his first taste of mutton and loved it!

On Sunday morning we planned to visit the Louisville Zoo with Aunt Rachel and Uncle Matt. We spent a few hours walking around and checking out the animals. It was very chilly when we got there but by the time we made it half way through it was getting warmer but still felt nice to be outside. Unfortunately we didn't get to play in the splash park this time, but we will make good use of our season pass and be back several more times this summer.
When we were finished at the zoo we dropped Uncle Matt off and went in to visit Mimi and Pop who had just made it back after a trip to Owensboro. Wyatt entertained everyone by showing his muscles and then we had dinner at California Pizza Kitchen in Oxmoor Mall where we had the most delightful server (Matt's weekend job). If your in Louisville check it out, and tip big!

In case the video wasn't funny enough...
